
MATERIALS:
- 3 different colors of yarn
- Crochet hook
- Yarn needle to weave in ends
- Scissors
STITCHES & ABBREVIATIONS:
*Written in US terms
- Chain (CH)
- Slip stitch (SS)
- Half double crochet (HDC)
- Double crochet (DC)
- Treble crochet (TR)
- Treble crochet 2 together (TR2TOG)
- Treble crochet 3 together (TR3TOG)
INSTRUCTIONS:
- COLOR 1 (center of flower):
- Round 1:
- CH 4 and SS into the first chain to create a ring
- CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), 11 DC in ring
- SS into top of beginning chain 3 to join
- Fasten off and change colors
- Round 1:
- COLOR 2 (petals):
- Round 2:
- Join color 2 in any stitch
- CH 3 (counts as 1 TR) + TR2TOG + CH 2 (1 petal)
- * in the next stitch, TR3TOG and CH 2 *
- Repeat from * to * in each stitch around finishing with 12 petals.
- SS into top of first petal to join
- Fasten off and change colors
- Round 2:
- COLOR 3 (background color):
- Round 3:
- Join color 3 in any chain 2 space
- Into that same chain 2 space, CH 4 and 3 DC (this is your first corner of your granny square)
- in the next two chain 2 spaces, work 3 HDC each
- * in the next chain 2 space, work 3 DC + CH 2 + 3 DC, then 3 HDC into the next 2 spaces*
- Repeat from * to * until you reach the corner we started at.
- work 2 DC + SS into chain 4 space to complete this corner.
- Round 4:
- CH 4 and 3 DC (starts corner of granny square)
- in the next three spaces, work 3 DC each
- * in the corner, work 3 DC + CH 2 + 3 DC then 3 DC into next 3 spaces *
- Repeat from * to * until you reach the corner we started at.
- work 2 DC + SS into chain 4 space to complete this corner.
- You can fasten off or keep going around until you reach the desired size of your square.
- Round 3:
